about

This is obviously inspired far more by the Cream cover than the Albert King original. I recorded this as one of my first tests on the VF80EX along with "Red Wine." Probably recorded in the summer or '05 or so. This version gave me trouble on the vox takes. The best one ended up being a NyQuil induced crooner thing I pulled off in a flu haze. Go figure. I accidentally listened simultaneously to two lead takes I had saved, and liked the result. That's another Claptonism. I've always felt close to this song. Particularly the "Red wine and women verse..." Although, like Cream, I opted out of the "I can't read..." verse. Who knows why? Now, I'm working on a new version a lot closer to the King. In the higher key for that howl, and more up-tempo. And I'm stealing that nasty little turn-around figure of which Albert is so fond.
